Welcoming a baby is one of the most exciting things (especially when it’s your first)

What are they going to be like? Who will they favor more in looks? Will he/she have blue eyes or brown?

Endless possibilities. Half you, half your best friend.

If you’re worried about having your first baby, know that you’ve got it. You’ve done all the hard parts already. You’ve been tired, you’ve been worried, you’ve felt like you’re making mistakes. You’re a pro at the hard stuff.

What you’re not a pro at is the wonderful parts. You have no idea how amazing and blissful it is to hold your baby in your arms. Nothing prepares you for that. There is no ‘warm-up’ versions to the amount of joy you’ll feel.

Nothing but love for Liz and Abraham as they enter this new chapter.

Family portraits for the holidays.

I hope everyone was able to get their family portraits done before the end of the year.

Small reminder that it’s never too early to book your holiday family portraits. A photographer’s busiest time is October - December. To ensure a date, it’s always smart to plan ahead and book in advance.

Family is a big part of the holidays.

I hope everyone is with their loved ones and have a Merry Christmas.

You can book a session and it be for more than one occasion.

I only limit your time, never your reason for a shoot. Say you need family portraits, graduation photos and a birthday pics? You can get all of that in one session.

Victoria booked her maternity, family portraits and Christmas card photos all in one shoot. We only needed 30 minutes and we were able to get it all.

There are so many special moments we want photos for. I never want anyone to feel like they have to sacrifice their budget to get good quality photos.

This also includes outfit changes. As long as we stay in the time frame you book for, you can change into as many outfits as your heart desires.

I got into the photography business to capture memories, make friends and to stay creative.

Sometimes all you need is some harsh sunlight and pretty rings.

When I first started photography I avoided harsh lighting. I believe every photographer goes through that fear. We look for tall buildings that cast a good shadow or trees too tall to hide our clients in for some “safe” lighting. I know I did.

Now, as I’ve grown, I’ve learned to appreciate the sun. It creates such a warmth to the photos. It can add an element of purity and sparkle.

During these detail shots, the sun came in and out. You can see the warmth the sun brings and the shine it holds.

Never underestimate the sun. Always challenge yourself to get out into it. Use the harsh shadows to your advantage. Sometimes it doesn’t work and sometimes it creates magic. It’s okay to try.

Let’s talk about chemistry.

The Google definition of ‘chemistry’ is:
“An intense, immediate feeling of connection and attraction between two people. Essentially, the emotional and physical bond that makes someone feel drawn to another person on a deeper level than just liking them.”

This is not something you can fake, it has to come naturally. Sometimes it can just radiate, like you see in these photos.

Sarah and Lee, congratulations on y’all’s engagement. Y’all have something truly special.

They’re expecting a baby boy soon and I’m so happy for them! Can’t wait to see what their family looks like at the next family photoshoot 🥰

A mom and her boys.

As I’m growing to be a mom, I look at these shoots a little differently now.

Every little moment matters; to how your oldest boy holds your hand, to how your kids interact with each other as they grow up. These moments are small and always changing.

Your kids are growing with every day that passes.

I see these shoots now as a way to capsulate these little years. One day your kids will be adults with busy lives but right now, in this very moment, they’re small and full of wonder.

I hope this sparks a mom to take photos with their babies. Even if it’s just to do mundane chores like feeding the animals.

You can feel the love in these photos.

In a life where there’s constant go-go-go, it’s nice to stop and relish in the now. That’s easier said than done with three growing boys. Nonetheless, we were able to capture some beautiful moments.

Laughter, joy, and blurry excitement. They’re all captured in these photos. Homegrown roots and pure love. These photos will be recorded as some of the bests.

My art, my rules.

I have a tendency to give out more photos than what I agreed on giving.

Did you pay for 50 photos but got 75 with no extra cost? Yeah that typically happens when you book with me.

I saw another photographer post about how she is overly generous with the amount of photos she gives out and it made me feel so validated. For years friends and other photographers have told me to change the way I give galleries out. That I should be charging for extra photos if they want them and as much as I appreciate their concern for me and my work, I never felt like it was right.

When I started doing photography, it was a form of art and passion. I love the creative freedoms I have as an artist and if I were to limit the amount of photos given, it then limits the amount of creativity I’m allowed to have. If you really think about it, it’s me being selfish in wanting all the control in the artwork provided.

A few people would find it generous and kind that I give out way more than what I agree upon, but it’s really so I can sit at home and edit the photos how I’d like without any interruptions.

Another set of people would say I’m missing out on money, that I should charge for the extra photos, but that also never felt right to me. The time I spend with my clients, taking photos, learning their story, I grow attached to all these cute moments. I can’t expect you to select your top favorites as much as I can’t expect myself to. So therefore, all the cute moments go out to you.

This is no hate to any photographers who charge for extra photos, they have their way of doing things and I have mine. I’m just happy to see I’m not the only photographer who does this. With sharing my story I hope other photographers that over share in galleries know they’re not alone as well.

Lots of family means lots of love.

Sometimes trying to get the family together can be hard. Some live far away, some are always late and others have plans. When the family finally gets together, it’s beautiful and worth remembering. Never underestimate the power of good family photos when you have everyone in one place.

I wish instagram didn’t limit me on the amount of photos I can post. There are so many favorites from this shoot that I wish I could post more.

Graduation photos are worth it! Never a bad idea to have your dog tag along either.

Congratulations to all my seniors this year. I’m very proud of all of y’all.

The last three slides are my favorite!

These romantic scenes captured in between poses are what I’m really after. If you’ve ever shot with me, I’m a bit of a “let’s get candids” type of photographer. I’m taking photos as we walk to the next shot, I’m prompting activities for the pose and I’m over shooting A LOT.

Why do I do this? I believe you’re at your most beautiful when you’re unposed. From cute looks you give to your partner in between shots to holding hands when no one is looking. It all holds a piece of y’all and your story.

In the end; trust the process, know you’re beautiful and don’t be afraid to love.

I will not photoshop your body.

My main focus as a photographer is to capture your authentic self. I want to show you how beautiful you REALLY are. Truth is, you never needed a Snapchat filter to look your best.

I will, on the other hand, remove trash in the background or reflections in sunglasses. I’ve seen and heard a lot of opinions on body alterations by photographers. I’ve seen people edit the photos I took of them to make them look “skinnier” or “tanner” when they didn’t need it.

You are beautiful and I will only edit to enhance that, not change it.

Going forward, understand that body alterations are not something I offer. If it’s something you’d like, respectfully, you’ll have to go to someone else.

We’re from Texas, of course we take bluebonnet photos.

Memories are important. Making a habit of taking family photos every year is a good way to collect those memories.

With the days getting longer this month, I’m now extending my shoot time to 7am - 7pm.

My best friend is having a baby! I’m so overjoyed for them.

It feels just like yesterday, her and I were playing Minecraft and baking cupcakes in her mom’s kitchen. To look at who we are today and how we’ve grown, it’s surreal.
